ANOINTING

based on Psalm 23

This life is the shadow valley of death

Yet, while there — You anoint my head

And when enemies come with the fiery breath

Still, You calmly anoint my head

Then You lead me and guide

My good Shepherd, and kind

With the goodness and mercy that follow behind

The anointed

Sometimes life arrives where pastures are green

And while there — You anoint my head,

Let me rest, quench my thirst with waters clean,

Teach me Truth — and anoint my head

Then You lead me and guide

My good Shepherd, and kind

With the goodness and mercy that follow behind

There are times this life needs a comforting touch

And You come — and anoint my head

Rod and Staff by Your side, righteous prayer does much!

With Your Name — You anoint my head!

Then You lead me and guide

And when life gets lost, futile-minded and stuck

Then You come — and anoint my head

Mind’s restored, path is clear, and soul — wonderstruck

That You’re there — anointing my head

Life, align to the Word of the GOD Most High!

He’s my Shepherd, He anoints my head

For His Name’s sake and glory He keeps me close by

And in trials — anoints my head

PSALM   23  (KJV)

1  YAHUAH is my Shepherd; I shall not want.

² He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters.

³ He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the Paths of Righteousness for His Name's sake.

⁴ Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me.

⁵ Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

⁶ Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the House of YAHUAH for ever.
